!Please note that in the event of a snake bite:

 

Remain calm
Ensure safety by getting away from the snake
Do not catch or kill the snake
Call for medical assistance

Immediately apply a pressure bandage for neurotoxic bites.

If a Pressure Bandage is unavailable, a tourniquet can be applied above the bite site if the responsible snake has been correctly identified as a Black
Mamba or a Cape Cobra and you are more than 90 minutes from hospital.

Immobilize the affected limb to prevent movement.

Rinse venom out of the eyes with water.

Ensure quick transportation to the hospital.
Where possible call ahead to inform the hospital that you are on the way.

Do not try and suck venom from the wound
Do not give the victim alcohol or pain medication
